Client: Magic Bean Cafe
Date: April 2024
Brief: Magic Bean Cafe is a new small business opening up in the neighborhood. They need help creating a logo, typography, colors, and other visual assets to be used for out-of-home (OOH) signage and print materials. The client wants a minimalistic, classic, and timeless logo that represents their brand.
Tools/Software used: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
Magic Bean Cafe is a neighbored coffee and pastry cafe, brewing up hand-crafted elixirs and delectable treats that will magically transform any slow-Joe’s day.
For this brand identity project, a logo was created and implemented into an outdoor blade sign, window graphics, bi-fold menu, and disposable coffee cup.
Inspiration was mostly drawn from the Art Deco period, that can be seen with the decision of using 2-D gold geometric shapes contrasting vibrantly against a cobalt blue background. The software used to make these designs were first, Adobe Illustrator’s shape tools, the shape building tool, and the grid features. Later the menu was built in Adobe InDesign, and mockups were created with the assistant of Adobe Photoshop.
In conclusion, not only was a logo and menu created from the project parameters into a print-ready document, but also feedback was incorporated for the menu design by creating horizontal lines from the product names to prices for quicker association.
This menu design was based off the stylization of the art deco movement with repetitive geometric shapes and gold outlining. Each icon is surround in a rectangular container and has imagery based on the products and tools used to make their products.
Dark blue was used to evoke elegance and the gold contrasts against the color to suggest luxury.
